Charlie's Plan to Stop the Sewage
Portsmouth and Southsea enjoy nationally designated bathing waters on Southsea Seafront, and we are home to Sites of Special Scientific Interest in Portsmouth and Langstone Harbours. These are all being polluted by Southern Water. Charlie has a plan to put a stop to the sewage dumping that protects taxpayers from the costs.
The Conservatives are asleep at the wheel while water companies like Southern Water are dumping sewage in local bathing waters and environmentally sensitive sites.
Sewage dumping is now out of control across the country. Local Conservative MPs like Penny Mordaunt (Portsmouth North) and Flick Drummond (formerly Portsmouth South) voted to allow water companies to continue dumping sewage in our seas, rivers and streams for another 15 years. We have now learned that sewage dumping is getting worse, not better as these companies had promised.
Charlie is passionate about our coastal environment and safety of the waters around Portsmouth and Southsea, having volunteered as a sailing instructor for adults and young people on Portsmouth Harbour.
As a local sewage campaigner, Charlie has been holding Southern Water to account over their sewage dumping in our area. He is clear that water companies need to get a hold of the situation and invest in their failing infrastructure without pushing the cost on to ordinary people.
Portsmouth needs an MP who is determined to make water companies clean up their act.
Everyone deserves to know that the bathing sites on Southsea Beach are safe and our wildlife is preserved. The big water companies like Southern Water are out of control, dumping sewage into our seas with impunity. The Conservative Government needs to get a handle on the situation and take real action against these companies.
