The Lib Dem's Carer's Leave Act gives 2.4 million carers across the UK a right to take five days of leave per year, helping carers to better balance work and care. The law has been described by the charity Carers UK as a ‘landmark’ piece of legislation. It is a first step to providing the greater support unpaid carers need.

The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill was introduced into Parliament on 24 January 2013 and became law in July 2013. On 29 March 2014, the first same-sex couples were married.
