Lib Dems Win New Play Equipment for Baffins
As Baffins residents may know, your local councillors - me and my Lib Dem colleagues Abdul Kadir and Darren Sanders - pushed for new play equipment for Baffins park in this year's council budget. It was installed some weeks ago, is fantastic, and has certainly been well used.
However, it is now clear that the old equipment was not advanced or challenging enough to appeal to older children. Many more children aged 6+ are now using the new kit!
What's also obvious is that the new kit has left a gap for younger ones aged 3+ years.
I therefore arranged to meet with the Parks team to ask for more kit for them plus more inclusive play equipment.
Currently, we only have the one swing.
So today, in a big win for Baffins, the Parks team have agreed to place an order for extra equipment.

Delivery time is 8-10 weeks so hopefully it can be installed before the summer holidays.
That's fantastic news as all children deserve a park that they can enjoy.
It's especially true when there is concern about children being on devices all the time.
When similar plans are ready for Cobden Park, they will be shared with councillors. We can then consult with local children through schools and playgroups.
A big thank you to all who contacted me to share your views and hopes for the alterations. I really do feel this is the best outcome and I couldn’t have done it without your support.
