‘Street Surgeries’ sees thousands chatting with Lib Dems citywide
Across Portsmouth, residents see their local Lib Dem team on 'street surgeries', enabling them to take their concerns right to the top. Pictured are the Lib Dem Gerald Leader of the City Council, Gerald Vernon-Jackson, with Cllr Suzy Horton (Deputy Leader) at one of the North End street stalls.
Liberal Democrat leader of Portsmouth City Council, Gerald Vernon-Jackson, said: "A council that listens to residents is good. Representing residents can only be done if we're out and about speaking to people. Portsmouth Liberal Democrats are a party of action - people tell us they like how we get things done locally."
All sorts of issues are raised from fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour, the lack of dentists and GPs and ambulance waiting times are increasing at a worrying rate. People are worried about the future. As a result of listening, Lib Dem Councillors running Portsmouth City Council hosted its first-ever 'GP Summit', which was hailed as a great success. The idea is to find new and better ways of partnership working to improve services.
Everyone knows it's tough for many, but here in Portsmouth, Lib Dems stand up for local people. In the meantime, you can help us help you by signing our 'More GPs Petition'.
