Jason is proud to serve as the 98th Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, leading civic life in the city and attending hundreds of events during the year to support the community.

First elected to Portsmouth City Council in 1995 to represent Nelson ward, Jason has held a number of roles on the council including being tthe cabinet member for public safety (2002 - 2003) and transportation (2012 - 2014), representing Portsmouth on the police authority and fire authority, and chairing the Council's environment committee. He was previously Lord Mayor in 2004.

Professionally Jason has been a civil service manager within HMRC and is currently working in the retail sector.

Outside of his work as a councillor, Jason is an honorary life member and actor of Southsea Shakespeare Actors and a member of the Southern Skirmish Association. His hobbies include football, Irish & Bluegrass music, various aspects of gaming, and animal welfare.

Jason is interested in military history, in particular the Napoleonic Era and the War between the States. His grandfather served in the Royal Hampshire Regiment and his father in the Royal Logistics Corps. He himself served in the Armed Forces as a member of an SAS Signals Unit.
